ABOUT WILL

Will Wiggins III, otherwise known as Black Oni, is a Graphic Designer, Illustrator, and Action-RPG focused video game content creator, heavily influenced by Black and Japanese culture. "Born, and protector of sacred land," reflects his views of art and gaming as sacred forms of exploration & expression.

As an artist, Will is a passionate, results-driven, creator who strategically utilizes creative problem solving to push the boundaries of excellence in visual story-telling. His decade + of creating these stories and providing visual solutions for clients worldwide has been a driving force for his artistic endeavors dating back to his early childhood. His technical skill was developed and refined through his apprenticeship at Artists for Humanity, his collegiate career at Elmira College, 7 years as a graphic designer at Teach Plus, and his expansive freelance experiences.

 

His in-house and freelance experiences has enabled him to develop key proficiencies in brand management, advertising, project management, and strategic problem solving. More specifically, his applied knowledge and experiences allowed him to become proficient in using the Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects, HTML, Javascript, CSS, and Final Cut Pro.


He has created brand identities, websites, social media campaigns, reports, video production overlays, apparel, book illustrations, game art, motion-graphics, infographics, instructional content, and more. Clients include, but are not limited to the following: David Hayter, Snoop Dogg, Into the Motherlands, Groma, Northeast & Co, Laced Boston, Poiised, Twitch, Roxas, Teach Plus, Artists for Humanity, CRED, and more. Notable accomplishments include creating and moderating one of the most physically and virtually attended Creator Camp panels for Twitch, being included in a BET special on Into the Motherlands, and having his work presented at US Congressional briefings.


Strengths include medium and software versatility, project management, visual design, and art direction.

As a gaming content creator, Will aims to entertain, entice, and educate through his live and VOD content. He leans into his passion for telling stories and sharing his love of gaming through podcasts, game impressions, and livestream broadcasts. He got his gaming career start with his Youtube channel, and Blog he ran, leading a team of writers on previews, reviews, and thought provoking articles pertaining to gaming topics and news. Around this time, Will created the Black Oni Podcast, a podcast dedicated to discussing topics in gaming, and bringing people together to share their love for gaming and overall nerdom. 

Since then, he has grown a community of over 15k followers on Twitch, and made a name for himself as an expert in all things Metal Gear, Action RPGs, and deep dives on art in gaming. He has been featured on Twitch's front page, was contracted to work with Facebook Gaming, partnered with multiple gaming, peripheral, and apparel brands, has led panels on branding, (including the most viewed and attended Twitch creator camp panel at Twitchcon 2018), featured on "Swipe Life", the "Why I stream" Docuseries, and was highlighted in publications including Kotaku, Gamespot, Shacknews, superselected, Tinder, Quirktastic, USgamer.net, and more. He was a special guest on podcasts such as the Co-Optional podcast, Gamespot After Dark, iheart Radio, The Throwdown Podcast, Mekel Kasanova Podcast, Gameenthus podcast, and more. He is a partner for Warframe, Logitech, Astro Gaming, and Guilded.

Additionally, Will has provided commentary and hosted several tournaments and events, including the Astro Gaming funded tournament series "The Gauntlet" (3 events) in which he organized, Noble Gaming's official Dead by Daylight tournament, Warframe's Quest to Conquer Cancer event, A Space Esports Fortnite Tournament, and was part of several other panels at PAX West, Twitchcon, PAX East, and more. Will played an integral part in advertising campaigns for Warframe, Wayfinder, and Hyperscape, with other activations and consultations with games such as Ghost of Tsushima, The Cycle, Naraka: Bladepoint, Apex Legends, Call of Duty Modern Warfare (franchise,) Nioh 2, and more. He has worked with hardware companies Logitech and Astro Gaming closely.
